Aslam Chowdhury met Mendi N Safadi, a leader of Israeli Likud Party and chief of International Diplomacy and Public Relations. They are greeted in New Delhi earlier this month. The photographs of Aslam and Mendi made a row which came to the media through facebook.
Aslam chowdhury did not deny, he has admitted he met an Israeli politician in New Delhi early this month but claimed the meeting was accidental.
He also claimed, he didn’t know if the Israeli politician had any links with Mossad, the Israeli secret service agency. “The allegation that I’ve joined hands with Mossad to unseat the government is totally fictitious and baseless,” Aslam said.
Although Aslam claimed he accidentally met Mendi N Safadi, a leader of Israel’s Likud Party and chief of International Diplomacy and Public Relations in New Delhi, several photographs posted in the Facebook page of Mendi N Safadi Center – for International Diplomacy and Public Relations show the two taking reception and attending a programme in India.
Today(15.05.16) before he detention we could not reach Aslam Chowdhury , his cell phone was ringing, but none received.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and ruling Awami League leaders have alleged that the BNP had been trying to come to power by using the Israeli intelligence agency.
Aslam came under severe criticism at the party’s standing committee meeting on Monday. There, he was warned of stern actions.
‘The issue of alleged secret meeting between Aslam and Mossad published in newspapers came up in the meeting…We condemned it and said that Aslam should be asked for a explanation,’ said a standing committee member.
He said that Khaleda would deal with the issue, adding that Bangladesh had no relation with Israel and such thing would cause harm to BNP.
Newly appointed BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury is known to be a trusted lieutenant of BNP’s senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman. He is a Chittagong-based businessman. Earlier Aslam was convener of Chittagong north district BNP.
